Moreno Valley man arrested for distribution of child pornography
On Sunday, June 21, 2019, investigators from Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Moreno Valley Station were notified of possible child pornography manufacturing and distribution within the city of Moreno Valley. A cyber tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children commonly known as NCMEC. Representatives from NCMEC notified local law enforcement officials with the Riverside County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force (SAFE) which is comprised of several agencies within the county including Riverside Police and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The SAFE task force agents provided information which led investigators to the origin of the content.
At approximately 9:00 pm, investigators from Riverside Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Moreno Valley Station responded to a residence in the 15400 block of Perris Blvd and contacted the suspect identified as Jaime Smead, 21 of Moreno Valley. The investigation determined Smead was in possession of the exploited content and responsible for the social media post. The juvenile depicted in the images was located safe, unharmed and unaware of the exploited content.
Smead was subsequently arrested and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on one count of 311.11a PC, Possession of child pornography.
