The 36-year-old driver of a semi-truck was killed in a crash on the 215 Freeway in Moreno Valley Thursday night, June 20, and authorities are seeking the other driver, who they say fled the scene.

The crash happened on the southbound 215 Freeway just north of Cactus Avenue at about 8:22 p.m.

A 2004 black Tahoe was speeding in and out of lanes on the southbound I-215 just north of Cactus Avenue, when the Tahoe approached slower traffic and veered to the right, the California Highway Patrol said.

The Tahoe  then struck the 2019 Freightliner truck tractor and trailer, which rolled over and came to rest on the guardrail.

The truck driver was dead at the scene. The Riverside Coroner’s office identified him as Robert Ferguson, 36, of Highland.

The driver of the Tahoe fled the scene in another vehicle, according to the CHP.

“It appears he got a ride from an unknown motorist,” said CHP spokesman Juan Quintero.

Authorities ask that anyone who might have witnessed the collision or has any information regarding the identity of the driver of the Tahoe to call the CHP Riverside Office at 951-637-8000.
