Public Meetings to answer questions and concerns about truck lane project

Transportation officials are poised to launch a $135 million project to add truck lanes along a 4.5-mile stretch of the 60 Freeway through the Badlands near Moreno Valley.

To answer the public’s questions about the project, the Riverside County Transportation Commission and Caltrans have planned a pair of open-house-style meetings, a news release states.

Those meetings are scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5,  at the Beaumont City Hall Auditorium, 550 E. Sixth St. in Beaumont, and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Cottonwood Golf Center, 13671 Frederick St. in Moreno Valley.

No formal presentations will be made, officials said. But people will have the opportunity to talk with project team members.

Construction is scheduled to start June 10, and the new lanes are expected to open in late 2021, officials said.
