DUI/Hit and Run at Perris Blvd. and Ironwod, Sunday; Suspect arrested

DUI HIT & RUN. SUSPECT ARRESTED. Early this morning, MVPD Deputies responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Ironwood Avenue and Perris Boulevard. First responders from MVPD, Cal Fire & AMR arrived within minutes. 

The driver and passenger from one of the vehicles sustained major injuries and were immediately transported by paramedics to a local hospital where the female succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Raymundo Meza, 26 year-old Hispanic male, of Moreno Valley fled the scene but was detained by a Good Samaritan until deputies arrived and took Meza into custody. Meza did not sustain any injuries and was arrested and booked into jail for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and fleeing from the collision scene with injuries. This collision is still under investigation and there are road closures at the scene, expected to last until 11 AM.
