Update from a MoVal Ryder employee: I’m a Ryder employee here in Moreno Valley
What happen was that Ryder lost the contract we had with Philips and FedEx will take over all employees are keeping there jobs and what I’m most happy is with a better pay.
Trucking and logistics company Ryder System will cease operations at its Moreno Valley distribution center, leading to layoffs for 145 employees there.
A spokesperson for the Miami-based business confirmed in an email that “due to a customer’s changing needs, it will no longer operate a facility in Moreno Valley.” The company declined to identify the customer that is discontinuing operations at the Globe Street facility.
According to the article, Ryder was trying to compete with Amazon and other online shippers. The company is going to try to put some of the displaced workers in other jobs.
