FATAL VEHICLE TRAFFIC COLLISION

MORENO VALLEY, California - On April 14, 2019, at approximately 7:15PM, Duc Lam, a 27 year old man from Santa Ana, California, was driving a white, 2017 BMW 430i westbound on Gilman Springs Road, east of Allesandro Boulevard. In the right front passenger seat of the BMW was Lina Vo, a 24 year old woman from Monrovia. Traveling in the opposite direction, eastbound on Gilman Springs Road, was a 49 year old man from Hemet. He was driving a blue, 1998 Ford Taurus. In a section of road divided by double, solid yellow lines, Lam passed a slower moving westbound vehicle. While doing so, the westbound BMW collided head-on into the eastbound Ford Taurus. The driver of the Taurus suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision (Coroner case number 2019-04809). Duc Lam and Lina Vo were both transported by American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance to Riverside University Health System (RUHS) with serious injuries. Cesar Gonzalez was driving a black, 2011 Honda Accord westbound on Gilman Springs Road behind the BMW. The Honda was struck by debris from the head-on collision. Gonzalez, a 46 year old man from Montebello, was also transported to RUHS by AMR with minor injuries.

Alcohol and drugs and have been ruled out as contributing factors in the cause of this collision.
