MORENO VALLEY — Authorities are continuing to investigate and a grieving family is asking for answers after the fatal shooting of a San Bernardino County man at Moreno Valley’s Sunnymead Park last Tuesday, March 12. Neither Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit or Moreno Valley Police Department officials have released any new details regarding their ongoing investigation.
Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified the man who was fatally shot last week as Patrick Malloy, 27, of Upland. A coroner’s release indicated Malloy was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Riverside University Health System in Moreno Valley. The release indicated the victim succumbed to his gunshot injuries about 20 minutes after the shooting and he passed away at 12:36 p.m.
Since his death, Malloy’s family has said the father of two young boys was engaged to be married and always made time for his immediate and extended family.
He was a gentle soul … with a wonderful sense of humor,” his family later explained in a gofundme accountestablished to help the victim’s “very confused and devastated family” with his burial costs and other expenses. He “loved taking trips to the desert for dirt bike riding and campfires,” and was an avid Raiders fan, according to family members and friends.
His grieving family explained, “Patrick loved life, especially since becoming a father in December of 2016,” which they said was “a life changing experience and a new motivation for him.”
Malloy’s family is now hoping that someone will come forward with new information or that officials will receive a break in their investigation so they can begin to have closure over the death of their loved one.
