KCAL9 News on Landmark M.S. students brawl coverage

Updated information: MVPD went to Landmark Middle School earlier Tuesday when there was a report of a shooting on the campus. But after checking the area, they declared an all-clear around 11:35 am and the lockdown was discontinued. 

The Sheriff’s Department said a 13-year-old made the false school shooting call. The person was arrested and booked into Riverside Juvenille Hall.

In addition, a 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of her involvement in the disturbance, officials said. Moreno Valley Unified School District and MVPD will work to identify other students involved in the fight.

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA)– Police responded to reports of a fight at a Moreno Valley middle schoolwhere more than 50 students had gathered.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Departmentwas called to Landmark Middle School around 1 p.m. Tuesday, after a fight broke out during lunch.

Deputies ordered the students to disperse, and when they didn’t comply, officersreleased a pepper ball.

As of 3 p.m., it was reported that about 23 studentswere exposed to the pepper spray, three of which were transported to a local hospital.

A message from Moreno Valley Unified School District stated, “We have experienced several challenges today on campus. After our lockdown earlier in the day, a large amount of students were involved in an altercation at lunch. Police responded and placed our school on another temporary lockdown. Police dispersed the crowd of students and the lockdown was lifted.”
