Two fatal accidents occur this week, near Gilman Springs Hot Springs

Two people lost their lives in separate accidents within twelve hours of each other this past week, on or near, Gilman Springs Road.

The first crash occurred late Tuesday evening, 1/29, for unknown reasons, the CHP said, Zulfiqar Chaudhry’s car drifted left, across the center median, and into the path of the woman’s car. He died from the collision and she was taken to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley.

The California Highway Patrol said the 72-year-old San Jacinto man was driving a white 2004 Honda Civic southbound on Sanderson Avenue — Highway 79 — about 1/2 mile south of Gilman Springs Road. The woman was traveling northbound in a silver 1998 Honda Accord.

Drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as being the cause of the accident.

On Wednesday, 1/30, a stolen vehicle from Victorville with two Moreno Valley residents inside, lost control of their white Durango truck, swerving from the shoulder back into the path of a semi-truck, carrying goods for Mother’s Nutritional Centers. He was not injured. The impact between the two vehicles caused the SUV to spin multiple times, which caused the two occupants to be ejected. It was not believed that either had been wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

The victim killed in the collision was later identified by Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials as Tanya Gil, 31, of Moreno Valley. The man driving the stolen vehicle and who was ejected, has been identified as Issa Mojaddidi, 30, of Moreno Valley, was treated at the scene before being rushed by ground ambulance to Riverside University Health System’s trauma center in Moreno Valley. Meyer described his injuries as serious.
