Do your drive through Beaumont on the 60? Some freeway closures may happen beginning Sept. 10.

Construction on the Potrero Interchange at the 60 Freeway will lead to some road and freeway closures in Beaumont starting Sept. 10.

The project includes construction of a six-lane bridge to extend Potrero Boulevard over the freeway, building a connection ramp on Western Knolls to Potrero north of the freeway and some freeway widening.

Construction of the overpass bridge is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept, 10, and continue for eight to 10 nights. The closure will require all westbound traffic to be detoured to the 10 Freeway and eastbound traffic will be reduced to a one-lane cross-over detour between Jack Rabbit Trail and Western Knolls.

All freeway closures will take place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m, and no weekend work is anticipated.

The temporary closure of Potrero Boulevard will begin Monday, Sept. 17,  and last for approximately 30 days. Crews will build drainage systems and re-align the intersection of Potrero and Western Knolls with the future overpass and interchange.
